What do our franchisees say?

"long term income contributes to the value of my business"

A “spectacular” start as a franchisee has resulted in six years of success for ‘Consultant of the Year’ Adam Wheatley. The ability to joint venture with other franchisees has helped his business to grow to an annual turnover of £300,000

As a result of his dedicated involvement in developing improvements in the Expense Reduction Analysts business model to encourage this collaboration across the network and improve the income generating ability of each franchisee, Adam Wheatley has been announced as the company’s ‘Consultant of the Year’ during a black tie dinner reception at its recent Annual Franchisee Conference. “The previous winners have been of high standing so I am honoured to be in their select group,” says Adam. “Head office appreciates the extent to which I have contributed, such as in sitting on the Franchisor Advisory Council and chairing the Client Acquisition Sub-Group.”

Adam became an Expense Reduction Analysts franchisee in April 2002 after taking redundancy from his role as Business Director running an IT company. He also brings a wealth of experience in business strategy, consultancy, management and procurement in a number of sectors. “My capabilities and strengths fit very well with Expense Reduction Analysts and they were very open throughout the recruitment process, allowing me to speak to all the other franchisees.

I was very excited to be make my own acquisition by buying an existing franchisee’s business.”

A “spectacular” first month in charge saw Adam sign up business covering £1 million of client expenditure, enabling him to record a first year turnover of over £100,000. This year he expects that figure to exceed £300,000, earned through creating average savings of 20 per cent for 70 active clients. “The previous franchisees had been planning to retire and when I took over I was able to exploit a lot of earning potential to hit the ground running,” he reflects. “My twin brother Paul was visiting me at the time and he was so enthused by my success that he ended up giving up his job and becoming an Expense Reductions Analysts franchisee himself!

“I couldn’t possibly cope with the amount of business I’d signed up in that first month, so right away I started joint venturing projects with fellow franchisees. I’ve come to realise that my strengths are in client acquisition and management, so I’ve continued operate as a client manager and draw on the range of specialist expertise offered by my 138 franchisee colleagues. For example, I work very closely with my neighbouring franchisee Diane Lane, whose contribution has underpinned everything I’ve achieved to earn the ‘Consultant of the Year’ award. I want to keep growing my business based on the development of ongoing services with clients and referral alliances with trade groups and other organisations. Both offer long term income and broaden my collaborations within Expense Reduction Analysts with both client and project managers. In this way I can keep adding to the value of my business.”
